My husband and I just got home from the grocery store. I am in the mood for baking. I made pie crust this morning and needed apples for the pie. The subject of Christmas came up while we were wandering through the aisles and 'R' mentioned he wasn't nervous about the season this year. I told him, of course not! You won't be buying me any presents, no pressure there. His reaction surprised me. WHAT??? I can't give you any presents?
So here's the deal with presents/gifts. I may receive any gift and won't turn anything away, but I may not use it until my 365 days of Cold Turkey are over. This is my rule and I am not ready to bend it before I have even begun.
Now, back to the apple pie and the brownies I am making.
Apple pie and brownies sound delicious. Now, I hope you don't go on a baking spree during these 365 days just because you can't shop!
ReplyDeleteActually, I have a goal to be able to make Mom's pie crust. I have never gotten it right and since everyone else in the family can do it, I think it is time I made the effort, lol.
ReplyDeletesusie, just be sure to touch it as little as possible... the heat from your hands melts the shortening, and that's bad. be sure to make pie crust cookies with the leftovers too :o)
ReplyDeleteThis darn blog...it doesn't recognize me unless I sign in first. I have typed this response 4 times now! Anyway, I know I need to handle it as little as possible. I put it in the fridge while I went to the store to get apples and then peeled them. it was still a little sticky when I rolled it out and tore when I put it in the plate. It was a good first attempt but I need to keep trying. And of COURSE I will make pie crust cookies, yummm!
